The main problems of the machine-building complex of Ukraine are related to the need to develop economic ties in the supply of components, the loss of traditional markets, the focus of enterprises on military production, as well as technical backwardness and low, compared to international standards, product quality.

The exceptional importance of the machine-building complex is that it provides tools for material production and services. The machine-building complex is the basis for the development of STP. In 2004, it accounted for 13.4% of the total industrial output of Ukraine, 31.2% of the average annual number of industrial production personnel.

The indicators of activity of the machine - building industry of Ukraine in the context of the main subsectors are analyzed, the analysis of foreign trade in the goods of the machine - building industry is carried out. The risks and problems of the industry are identified, the priorities of state influence on the development of the machine-building industry within the framework of the anti-crisis policy of Ukraine are determined.
